Artemis™

The Artemis™ emissions testing, monitoring, and diagnostics system.  Artemis is a patent-pending, ISO-8178-compliant shipboard laboratory-on-a-cart that monitors and verifies in real-time the emissions characteristics of the exhaust stream of each engine on board, including NOx, SOx, hydrocarbons, O2, CO, CO2, and particulate matter.  This data is logged and continuously monitored and analyzed to measure emissions levels against compliance limits, to recommend optimization of engine settings across the entire plant for reduced fuel consumption while also reducing emissions, and to evaluate trends and diagnose maintenance issues causing emissions and fuel consumption deviations from optimal.  The data is continuously uplinked to the engineering control station, the bridge, and, if desired, the operations home office.  Artemis offers the full functionality of a land-based emissions laboratory, reducing operating costs and downtime by supporting in-use emissions verification, as opposed to requiring dockside testing or engine manufacturer’s recertification and OEM-only parts.  One Artemis system can support an entire vessel no matter how many engines are aboard.

The system allows owners of marine vessels to demonstrate compliance with emissions regulations on a continuous basis through in situ data collection of actual, real-time emissions readings, rather than through relying upon periodic inspections of certification paperwork (provided by the engine manufacturers) by authorities.  The system represents a major advancement in testing and monitoring technology, bringing lab-quality measurement equipment to be affordably brought to the source, rather than vice-versa.

  • Reduces size and cost of test lab equipment dramatically
  • Provides continuous stream of emissions data linked to GPS to confirm compliance with location-dependent emissions standards
  • Diagnostic capabilities identify sources of non-compliance issues, such as worn engine parts, etc.
  • Developed through intimate knowledge of the emissions certification testing process gained though development of our own emissions control products, and designed and built by an expert staff with over 20 years of experience building emissions laboratories and certifying products to CARB, EPA, and IMO requirements.

The Artemis system will be leased to shipowners rather than sold, to ensure proper maintenance is done on the system to keep it functioning properly.
